I got what I wanted

Let me share to you my own story. I got this as my wedding ring because this is exactly what I really wanted even before I got engaged. The picture doesn't really do it justice and there was no sunlight by the window when I took it. Anyway, my husband got this ring instead of a plain wedding band he had been keeping for years. He had a favorite uncle who got married several times who gave him one of the old wedding bands he had in his past marriages. My husband even surprised me when we drove to the jeweler where he had the rings re-sized for us. Well, I didn't like the idea because I don't even know who the woman was who used to wear the ring neither do my husband. Besides a failure marriage that goes with the ring in the past, it doesn't really sound nice to me. My husband didn't realize it and he only thought it was just thoughtful because it was given to him by his favorite uncle.

I do respect the value of an heirloom piece but I just didn't buy the story behind it. It would have been nicer if his mom gave him her engagement ring to give it to his fiancee or something like that. And to think that it was a ring worn in a marriage that didn't last, I didn't want to think that way every time I see it on my own finger. Besides, after the ring was re-sized it was smaller that my husband thought my ring finger is. It wasn't really meant for me. I still keep the ring though in the box that is. That's why he had me pick what I wanted few days before our wedding. I had no choice but to get a ready-made one which was big and just had it re-sized which was quicker than having one custom made. That's about it.

My precious wedding ring which cost my hubby more than what he had in mind. He said I will wear it forever anyway so I had to decide which I really wanted. I felt a little guilty about it though after that old ring dilemma which could have not cost as much as this ring, my dear husband had to pay more. I love it anyway as much as I would love a simple wedding band without any glitter at all. Oh well, you only get married once in your lifetime anyway. Unless of course something else comes along which I hope won't happen to us.
