Do You Need a Vacation?

My friend and her husband’s family went to Cape Cod last year for a vacation. I was really jealous because I miss the beach a lot and it’s just a perfect place for a getaway where you could enjoy the water and the view. Not to mention that they had so much fun and the sea foods are just fantastic! They got a Cape Cod vacation rental from weneedavacation.com where the whole family stayed in for a week. They sure had a blast and I could only wish we will do the same perhaps next year. She suggests that if ever we are going there in the summer we should pretty much take a lot of photos and join the Summer Photo Contest. Not only do they have thousands of beach house and cottage listings on the site, the contest is a fun way to participate in at WeNeedaVacation.com. It’s by far the top source on the web for vacation rental property listing and will surely provide a place for the whole family a perfect home for a vacation.

Happy Halloween!

Later today, my son and I are going treat or treating. He is going to wear his pumpkin Pooh costume. This is his first Halloween. It's an exciting day for me too since I have never gone treat or treating when I was a kid. I love the idea of collecting candies as I love candy bars. I know it's not very good for your teeth, but I just couldn't resist it. I'm sure I'll end up eating all the candies my son will be collected. Yikes! I feel like a small kid.

World's Best Pre-lit Artificial Christmas Tree

Christmas is getting really close. It’s barely two months away. Have you decided on a date to put up your decorations yet? I’ve always wanted to get a live Christmas tree but I think it would be too much work especially on transporting it from the store to the house. I think it would be a waste too since it will only be thrown out afterwards when Christmas season is over. For this year, I would like to get one of the World's Best Pre-lit Artificial Christmas Tree and that I will get from Hamaccher at hammacher.com. They have been in service for over 159 years and are providing a great selection of unique products and not to mention the best quality there is on the market.

Their Christmas trees are composed of World's Best Pre-Lit Tree, the Aluminum Christmas Tree or the Upside Down Christmas tree. I would like to get the World's Best Pre-Lit Tree because it looks just like the real thing. It’s described as the most realistic tree in the world, thus, it’s better than getting a real tree and just throw it away when done. It has the best lights too that will last a lifetime. Inspired by a Noble fir, this tree will look very desirable. Oh, I can’t wait to get one for Christmas. If you love this tree you can find more at hamaccher.com.

Cold Care Tips and Warnings

These are some of the tips and warnings on cold care. Please read just so you will be able to correct some of the wrong beliefs every time you catch a cold. This information is from eHow.

* Antibiotics are effective only against bacteria, so they are completely ineffective against a cold.
* Too much vitamin C can cause diarrhea and gastric discomfort.
* Take aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce fever and inflammation if you are an adult. Give children acetaminophen. Determine the dose according to the child's age and weight. If age and weight aren't compatible, calculate dose using weight.
* Be cautious not to overmedicate yourself with over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. OTC cough syrups have multiple ingredients that sometimes counteract each other.
* If your symptoms become severe, if your fever does not go down, if you have difficulty breathing or develop a serious cough, or if you have specific medical conditions or concerns, we recommend you contact a physician. How to Care for a Cold

I just caught the cold from my son and it's bugging me so much now. I've been sneezing a lot and my throat isn't at all good. It's sore! I hope it's not going to bother me all night though. My son didn't sleep well the other night. He must had the same experience. This season is really bringing some virus and it's not surprise that a lot of people especially kids are suffering from the cold.

The following are some of the instructions that can be done when you have the cold. They will certainly help one way or another.

Instructions

Step One
Eat chicken soup. It contains an amino acid called cysteine, which thins mucus and breaks up congestion. Plus, the steam from the soup helps open up air passages.

Step Two
Gargle at the first sign of a scratchy throat with either mouthwash or 1 /2 tsp. of salt dissolved in 8 oz. warm water.

Step Three
Stay warm. Getting chilled compromises your immune system.

Step Four
Take aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce fever and inflammation if you are an adult. Give children acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Determine the dose according to the child's age and weight.

Step Five
Drink hot beverages and take hot showers. Steam helps open up nasal passages and reduces congestion.

Step Six
Drink a lot of liquid, enough so that your urine turns clear. Yellow urine means your urine is fairly concentrated. Clear urine means your body is well-hydrated.

Step Seven
Use cough syrup sparingly. Coughing is one of the ways the body gets rid of mucus.

Step Eight
Suck on a throat lozenge for relief from a sore throat. Choose a menthol-, phenol- or benzocaine-based lozenge; these are the ones that will help to numb the throat. They also help open up nasal passages. Zinc lozenges may also be helpful.

Step Nine
Put an extra pillow under your head when you sleep to help your nasal passages drain.

Step Ten
Rest. If you have a bad cold, one of the best ways to treat it is to take a few days off and sleep.

Mom's - Check out this new stroller!

Just the other day, hubby and I went to a baby store to return the stroller we bought. I didn’t like it when I finally had it set up for our son to try. I realized I should have it exchanged for something better. Before we went to the store I went online to see if I will find a stroller that will work well and that will make a good investment. Sure enough I found Mutsy. I checked on the website and their products and boy did I like them I wanted to go to a retail store to see the stroller I really like. I was looking for one that I can take on our trip and would be folded on the plane. They have 5 different models and they are called the Urban Rider, the Urban Rider “Next”, the 4Rider, 4Rider Light and their 3-wheel compact fold Spider (great for traveling!) Oh my, just what I wanted. They have great features and the styles are simply amazing. I love the colors too. You can even interchange these strollers. If you are a mom like me, I’m sure you want the best for you and your child when it comes to strollers. Come by at a Mutsy retailer near you and give one a test drive because I will.

Sister, Sister!

I just talked to my sister today. I am glad I was able to get in touch with her. It's nice to know she's doing well with her studies. She's hopefully graduating next year as a nursing student. She is looking forward to getting a job here sooner or later. I actually just sent some money to my mom to pay for their school fees and tuition since it's another semester enrollment this year.

Diabetic Test Strips

Very recently, a cousin of mine informed me that she was diagnosed to be diabetic. It didn’t surprise me at all because it’s hereditary in our family. In fact, my grandmother on my mother’s side passed away due to a complication brought by diabetes. She had to be amputated which was the main cause of her death. It’s quite alarming for my part too because there could be a chance that sooner or later I will find out I am also a candidate to be diabetic. However, I feel better that we now have a better health insurance compared to the first one we got which gave us some problems. Anyhow, for those who may have a family history of diabetes, the One Touch Ultra Strips are highly important for people who are suffering the symptoms of diabetes. At American Daibetes Wholesale, you will be able to save financially when you have no insurance. You get to take advantage of the 30-60% savings. Log on now at American diabeteswholesale.com for more details.

Cleaning Your Diamonds

Diamonds are best cleaned in warm water and a little dishwashing detergent, or warm water and a small amount of ammonia (6 parts water to 1 part ammonia). Rinse and pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. We do not recommend ultrasonic jewelry cleaners because the vibrations can enlarge any inclusions that are present in the diamond. These machines can also damage semi-precious stones.

Kids Party Invitations

Preparing for your kid’s party is a lot of work if you don’t have anyone who is willing enough to assist you. One of the first things to put on your list on your party planning is sending out kids party invitations at least a month before the date. This will give ample time for those who are invited to set up their schedule. My son’s first birthday is coming very soon and I look forward to it. I will probably have it celebrated with the family and some kids in the neighborhood and of course, having the invitations will make things even better.

Ring Guards II

Just last week, I got the ring guards that I ordered online. They are not the sturdiest though. They are made with a think metal sheet perhaps. I got 3 pieces as they come in that package and as soon as I put one in the ring it broke. I got two spares for the two rings and I was very careful at setting them up. Anyway, I was glad it worked fine.

High Risk Life Insurance

Insurance is essential. It’s undeniable that in today’s economy, its cost is rising high unbelievably. Not everyone can afford and most of the time those that are affected with this high increase are those who need high risk life insurance policies. Some of those individuals include the ones with health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer among others which most of the time these people have little choice and can hardly afford to get one due to the cost.

How is gold made in other colors?

With the introduction of various metals to pure gold, the color can be altered. Believe it or not, gold can be yellow, white, rose, purple, green or blue! Here are the most common formulas of how they make yellow, white and rose colored gold.

18kt yellow gold - 75% gold + 12.5% silver + 12.5% copper
14kt yellow gold - 58% gold + 25% silver + 17% copper
18kt white gold - 75% gold + 5% copper + 15% nickel + 5% zinc
14kt white gold - 58% gold + 20% copper + 14.5% nickel + 7.5% zinc
18kt rose gold - 75% gold + 5% silver + 20% copper
14kt rose gold - 58% gold + 10% silver + 32% copper

Wordless Wednesday #2

This photo was taken in Navarre Beach, FL. It was the first time I've been there and this beach is just amazing. Too bad though it was destroyed by the hurricane months before that. Our friends showed us a round and we were glad to see such a beautiful sight - turquoise water, white fine sand and the birds. You could still see some big expensive homes built beside there that were recovering from the devastation on this photo.

Jewelry Poem of the Day

Let me share this lovely poem to those who are into jewelries. I know women are more into such a hobby and I for one can understand how much women adore the beauty and value of some precious gemstones. The blue sapphire must be one of the most favorite gemstone among women and in particular the diamond. I love diamonds and sapphire together too.

The crisp, clear Sapphire of your eyes are surrounding me.
The stride of your diamond feet let me glide to thee.
The peridot of the summer make me feel so warm,
The healing of the opal no longer makes me torn.

Things that Irritate a Sane Person

1. A piece of foil candy wrapper makes electrical contact with your filling.

2. A station comes in brilliantly when you're standing near the radio, but buzzes, drifts and spits every time you move away.

3. It's bad enough that you step in dog poop, but you don't realize it till you walk across your living room rug.

4. People behind you in a supermarket line dash ahead of you to a counter just opening up.

5. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"

6. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.

7. The car behind you blasts its horn because you let a pedestrian finish crossing.

8. The elevator stops on every floor and nobody gets on.

9. The person behind you in the supermarket runs his cart into the back of your ankle.

10. The radio station doesn't tell you who sang that song.

11. The tiny red string on the Band-Aid wrapper never works for you.

12. There are always one or two ice cubes that won't pop out of the tray.

13. There's a dog in the neighborhood that barks at EVERYTHING.

14. There's always a car riding your tail when you're slowing down to find an address.

15. Three hours and three meetings after lunch you look in the mirror and discover a piece of parsley stuck to your front tooth.

16. When you need a salesperson, you can never find one.

17. You can never put anything back in a box the way it came.

18. You can't look up the correct spelling of a word in the dictionary because you don't know how to spell it.

19. You drink from a soda can into which someone has extinguished a cigarette.

20. You had that pen in your hand only a second ago, and now you can't find it.

21. You have to inform five different sales people in the same store that you're just browsing.

22. You have to try on a pair of sunglasses with that stupid little plastic thing in the middle of them.

23. You open a can of soup and the lid falls in.

24. You reach under the table to pick something off the floor and smash your head on the way up.

25. You rub on hand cream and can't turn the bathroom doorknob to get out.

26. You set the alarm on your digital clock for 7pm instead of 7am.

27. You slice your tongue licking an envelope.

28. You wash a garment with a tissue in the pocket and your entire laundry comes out covered with lint.

29. Your glasses slide off your ears when you perspire.

30. Your tire gauge lets out half the air while you're trying to get a reading.

Now let me search about RC helicopters.

Mobility is a Must!

One of the things I’m dying to accomplish is driving. I still don’t have a driver’s license and haven’t taken the driving test just yet. I wanted freedom to go out and do shopping or run errands by myself. It is such a pain in the neck to be so dependent on your husband when it comes to being mobile. Having a baby is one of the main reasons that hindered me to get this concern put off for the longest time. Anyway, once and for all I would like to implement this to myself; I would love to get a billet grille on my first car! No. I’m just kidding. I want a license. That would be it!

On Buying Gemstones

Gemstones have been sought after and treasured throughout history. They have been found in ruins dating several thousand years. They are valued as gifts symbolizing love.

Generally, the price of any gemstone is determined by: size, cut, quality (color/clarity/treatments), and type. Here are some questions to ask about quality:

* Has it been treated? (See treatments listed below)
* Is the stone natural or synthetic?
* Are there any noticeable scratches, chips or inclusions?
* Is the color even throughout the stone?
* How good is the color? (Is it vivid?)
* If you are buying the stones for earrings or cufflinks, are the stones well matched?

There are many ways that dealers treat gemstones. The savvy buyer asks lots of questions and hopefully tests the results. Here are some treatments to look for:

* Irradiation: It is common to irradiate Aquamarine, London Blue Topaz, Emerald, and Diamond as well as other stones. This treatment brings out color and removes imperfections. Many dealers know if the stones they are selling have been irradiated. Honest ones will tell you if they are aware of the treatment.
* Heat Treatment: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Ruby, Tanzanite and Topaz are often heated at high temperatures to enhance color.
* Dye: This is the most common treatment used. On clear stones, dye may be visible in cracks that are darker than the rest of the stone. Sometimes dye appears as a residue that rubs off or white patches. Lapis and Rose Quartz are commonly dyed. Amethyst and Citrine are often dyed. Black Onyx is permanently dyed in normal processing.
* Coatings: Jasper is often dipped in petroleum products to bring out color and to seal it. Emerald is oiled; turquoise is waxed.
* Fake stones: Some dealers will try passing off fake stones instead of natural ones. There are fake stones for most gemstones on the market. Always ask what stone something is if you are not certain. Honest dealers will tell you. If a stone looks too perfect it may be fake, irradiated or dyed. Avoid Laboratory made products are known as synthetics.

Wie Doesn't Rock Anymore

I thought for sure Michelle Wie is the luckiest girl in golf. Besides being recognized to have the potential at her very young age in the past years in LPGA, the money she earns from her sponsors is tremendous. One of those great sponsors is the Nike golf clubs and apparels. It’s just disappointing that these days she hasn’t been playing well. It is very discouraging for those who were looking up at her and were hoping she would make a difference. I for one don’t see or hear a lot about her anymore.

Thanksgiving is Fast Approaching

Thanksgiving is one of my most awaited holidays of the year. I like it a lot because it's one of those few times that I get to see the rest of the family who are living in others states. It's a good time for everyone to be together again and just enjoy the food and talk. Anyway, besides eating the foods that are only prepared on that day, the excitement that is brought by being with your loved ones counts the most.

Truck Accident Lawyers

My cousin’s husband always ends up quitting his job if not fired. He is a truck driver and I have no idea how many times he had been complaining about his employer if not his work. I know he had been in an accident and have looked into truck accident lawyers since he was at fault. I just don’t know how it ended because I don’t really ask them about it. I am the type who doesn’t ask about other people’s personal concerns unless they started the conversation themselves.

Jewelry

Objects designed for the adornment of the body, usually made of gold, silver, or platinum, often with precious or semiprecious stones and such organic substances as pearls, coral, and amber. Jewelry evolved from shells, animal teeth, and other objects used as adornment in prehistoric times. Over the centuries it came to be a sign of social or religious rank. In Renaissance Italy, jewelry making reached the status of a fine art; many Italian sculptors trained as goldsmiths. From the 17th century the decorative function of jewelry again came to the fore, overshadowing its symbolic significance. By the 19th century, industrialization brought jewelry within the reach of the middle class. Firms opened by jewelers such as Carl Fabergé and Louis Comfort Tiffany achieved great success by making fine jewelry for the wealthy.

Beach Cruisers for Your Active Lifestyle

Christmas is fast approaching. It’s the time of year again that gift giving keeps people anxious and excited of the coming holidays. Talking about the holidays, have you got a list yet? I haven’t so far. I am also looking forward to it. What could be good for someone who works for you? My hubby has employees at the golf range and he is also including them for Christmas. I was suggesting he should get them beach cruisers. There are a couple of guys who work for us in the spring and summer so might as well give them something you know. A beach cruiser would be useful especially when they go out with their family at the beach. I’m sure they would love that. I have seen beach cruisers at xyzbikes.com and they are on sale for a very affordable price under $100. They are all new and have a great selection from men to women and even the classicbeach cruisers, they got them all. Visit them at xyzbikes.com and see for yourself their great products.

Hardest or Not?

A diamond has always been recognized as the hardest substance in the world if not the universe. As what is popularly known, only a diamond can cut a diamond. But, did you know a diamond will break when you hit it with a hammer? Will it prove the old saying wrong?

A diamond is the hardest natural substance on earth, but if it is placed in an oven and the temperature is raised to about 763 degrees Celsius (1405 degrees Fahrenheit), it will simply vanish, without even ash remaining. Only a little carbon dioxide will have been released.

Diamonds are formed over a period of a billion or more years deep within earth's crust - about 150km (90 miles) deep - and is pushed to the surface by volcanoes. Most diamonds are found in volcanic rock, called Kimberlite, or in the sea after having been carried away by rivers when they were pushed to the surface.

A diamond is 58 times harder than the next hardest mineral on earth, corundum, from which rubies and sapphires are formed. It was only during the 15th century that it was discovered that the only way to cut diamonds was with other diamonds. Yet, diamonds are brittle. If you hit one hard with a hammer, it will shatter.

Stone Massage

Last Christmas, I got a gift certificate to a spa from my family. I was on my expectant month of my baby’s delivery so it was a great gift for me as soon as I recovered from it. But, up until now I haven’t gone to the spa just yet because I don’t really know what I wanted. They told me it’s a great treat I should really make use of it. It’s a complete massage treatment and what not. I have never been to one that’s one reason why I am still hesitant to try besides being too shy. When I saw this Therapeutic Stone Massage Video I got really interested and would be eager to try one myself as soon as I can. I also like to give massages to my dear hubby and I am learning little techniques just like this finger walking which looks pretty exciting. If you are into stone massage, I bet you would love to learn more. I would suggest watching this video or visit their website.

Birthstones

I always find birthstones to be very interesting. Some if not most people consider their birthstones as their favorite when picking a set of jewelry. Most of the time a pair of earrings match with the pendant or vice versa. Others consider different stones that they find more precious and more attractive than the others.

Amethyst - Amethyst is a form of quartz, composed of silicon dioxide which is the primary ingredient of sand. Most quartz samples are clear, but amethyst has a beautiful purple color due to small amounts of iron impurities in the crystal lattice. You're a labelwhore… and proud!

When you wear designer clothes, you feel like every logo and label is a badge of honor. Your clothes give people a sense of your identity before they even talk to you. Maybe you're drawn to certain brands because they're associated with a certain lifestyle, and you like the idea of becoming a part of that world. One thing is certain: if you're going to spend big money on designer clothes, you want everyone to know that you're wearing the real thing. A big logo is the quickest way to get that idea across.

Imperial Palace Las Vegas

Going to Las Vegas is one of the things I have on my list on the places I have yet to see and explore. I don’t really gamble and I have no way of planning to learn one game. I just wanted to see the place, that’s all! I definitely would like to see the beautiful lights at night. I have heard and saw how nice they are. I learned that the Imperial Palace Las Vegas is fantastic. It should be a must-stay and a perfect escape from reality.

Garage Lighting

Our garage definitely can use good garage lighting just like the ones I found at carguygarage.com. As much as I wanted to keep our garage functional, it’s just not working for us because it has poor lighting we can hardly see what we’re looking for at times. We don’t even park our car inside because it is not very convenient at all. We have this little light bulb. Our bathrooms are brighter than our garage. I have to tell hubby to get new lighting or else we’ll be dealing the same predicament forever.

Ring Guards

I just ordered ring guards online. There are a couple of rings that I wanted to wear again but lost the ring guards. They were obviously not my size because they were originally own by my hubby's late aunt. I lost the ring guards I used with them before I got pregnant. During the pregnancy my fingers were swollen and the rings fit perfectly. Now that am back to my normal size I needed the ring guards again. I am glad I found a website that sells them for a very affordable price and cheap shipping cost. I don't think it's good to re-size the rings because of the diamonds on it. Jewelers usually redo the whole ring when it has diamonds. It can get really tricky. I just wanted to preserve the rings' classic design and I'm sure it will cost me a lot to have them re-sized than getting a ring guard.

Innovative Tutor

Children don’t always get ample of attention with regards to their academics especially when parents aren’t all the time available to guide them. Working moms and dads may all be occupied with their own businesses which usually lead the children to be lacking the much needed guidance in order to progress in school besides the teacher’s responsibilities towards them. An Innovative Tutor comes in handy when something like this is an issue. A help from a dedicated individual is necessary.

On Pearls

My birthstone is pearl, but I am not a big fan of it. I know a lot of women are into pearls since they could look elegant and sophisticated when worn on special occasions. I have yet to learn more about it and perhaps love them as well.
